If you’re looking to make some extra money, you can do so by selling your clothes online.
If you love clothes as much as I do, you may have some clothes that you may never wear again, either because they have gone out of fashion, no longer fit, or you just aren’t sure why you ever thought to buy them in the first place.
Either way, there are plenty of options for the girl or guy with more clothes than he or she knows what to do with that don’t have to include throwing them away.
Here are tips on how to sell your clothes:
For those who want to make some money, interact with their buyers and name their price:
Online Marketplace
This is personally my favorite option. This is a perfect option for items that don’t have any wear or tear. There are many options to sell your items on an online marketplace, including e-bay and amazon, but my go option is Poshmark.
It is very user friendly and helps make the process as easy and painless as possible. A friend of mine introduced me to the app and I’ve been hooked ever since opening my account about a year ago.
You get to control your price-mark and sell to a network of shoppers and sellers right from your phone. Poshmark is also range friendly with high, mid and low end clothing and accessories.
A high end, luxury brand app for mens clothing and accessories to consider is Grailed. Although men’s mobile options are limited for clothing resale there is a website option called StyleForum that also caters to a wide range of men’s clothing.
For those who want to make some money and get rid of their items as quickly as possible:
Sell it at a consignment store
This is another great option if you aren’t very tech savvy and would just rather not deal with customers, technology and apps. With this option you can physically take your items to a consignment shop and sell it.
Some consignment shops provide a way to also sell it online. Some online consignment websites including Ebay, Therealreal, and INA (NYC). Most consignment shops decide what items they will take off of your hands and determine the price they will pay you for each item.
It’s important to note that some consignment shops have a set price per item, while others bargain. This is a great option for those who don’t want to deal with customers and or prefer to not deal with the logistics of the marketplace.
For those who just want to get rid of their stuff and feel good about it:
Donate it
If I can’t sell an item, or I feel like someone else would better benefit from it, I donate it. This feels way better than throwing a perfectly used item away.
I usually donate directly to my local homeless shelter verses a good will or consignment shop. In doing this, I’m hoping to get more of a direct impact in helping and serving other people.
